Mt. Havilah Veterans Memorial Cross

The Veterans Memorial Cross on Mt. Havilah can be seen from high points in Tuolumne City including the Buckhorn Grade (Tuolumne Road above Westside Property) by looking east.

Timer to be set from 6pm – 2am Daily.

Requests to have the cross light can be directed to Commander@vfwpost4748.org.

The cross is on private property and can be accessed to the public by request to the Post Commander .

The above cross was placed after WW2, referred to as the Veterans Cross which is lit year around, currently with LED lights. The Original Veterans Cross was replace with the current one at some point due to damage. The original cross also had lights. There is a photo of the Original cross in our Veterans Room and appears to be twice as tall then its replacement. The Post has a fund that specifically pays for the PG&E bill. We would love assistance with installing a solar system in the future.

Not much is known about this wooden cross above.  It sets to the east of the Veterans Cross. It may be as old as 1900; or later dating back to the 1800s when the Town was known as Carter. Every Easter locals of Tuolumne gather for a Easter Sun Rise Service.
